The successful candidate:

Hours: Monday - Friday, 9:00 AM - 5:30 PM

Certification Required: Illinois Serv Safe Manager Certification

Job Summary:

The Food Service Lead is an integral member of the Culinary Services department, collaborating with department leadership to support and work alongside Culinary Stakeholders. This role requires maintaining a comprehensive knowledge of the Culinary Services function to ensure a safe experience for inpatient and outpatient patients, visitors, and employees within the hospital.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Adhere to all established department and hospital policies and procedures.

  • Resolve day-to-day operational barriers.

  • Maintain cash, credit, and house daily account reconciliations.

  • Conduct weekly cashier auditing and documentation.

  • Assist leadership with staff scheduling.

  • Ensure cleanliness of service and dining rooms.

  • Complete proper sanitation and temperature validation procedures.

  • Conduct pre-service meetings before meal periods.

  • Review menu and portion sizes

Minimum Job Qualifications:

Education:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in Food and Beverage/Hospitality or a high-volume hospital cafeteria setting (preferred).

  • Previous catering experience is a plus.

License/Certification/Permit:

  • Currently dated Illinois Food Handler’s Permit from the County/State Health Department. ServeSafe preferred.

  • Certification from an American National Standards Institute (ANSI) food handler training accredited program or obtained within 30 days of employment (Required in IL). ServeSafe preferred.

  • Certification of Food Protection Manager (IL) preferred.
