The successful candidate:

This is a PRN position.

Must be a licensed Paramedic in the state of Georgia.

  • Assumes responsibility and accountability for phlebotomy inclusive of port access, starting intravenous lines, obtaining samples for lab tests as appropriate, assisting the department clinical stakeholders. Environmental duties and other tasks as assigned by supervisor and/or departmental expectations.

  • Ensures accurate and timely reporting of patient needs.

  • Collects vital signs, intake and output, pain levels and other assigned patient information. Reports to the registered nurse any change in patient status, patient behavior, or unusual findings of data or incidents that might have occurred.

  • Documents accurately in the medical record the care that was delivered, activities completed, and other data that is collected for the patient. Performs lab draws per hospital policy in various departments.

  • Initiates and discontinues IV and/or port access/de-access using aseptic technique in accordance with established competencies.

  • Maintains clean and orderly patient rooms and unit. Keeps unit, nurse servers, and nutrition room adequately stocked with supplies. May transport patients via wheelchair, stretcher or bed from a nursing floor/patient care or other departments.

  • Provides support to nursing staff and other clinical personnel in the daily activities of the unit and during emergency situations. Reports any information regarding patient status or activities to the licensed nurse.

Qualifications

Minimum Education Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

Minimum Experience

  • 1 year experience preferred

Required Certification/Licensure 

  • State of Georgia Paramedic license required.

  • PCT certification or CNA license desirable.

  • Current BLS, ACLS and CPR required.
