The successful candidate:

City of Hope Atlanta (Newnan) is seeking a dedicated security officer to ensure the safety and security of our premises, assets, staff, and visitors. The security officer's responsibilities include patrolling the premises, setting up security controls, monitoring property access, investigating suspicious behavior, and enforcing company policies. Our Security Officers are highly observant and able to objectively assess the severity of a situation. An outstanding security officer should be able to remain calm and decisive in any situation

As the Security Officer you will:

  • Checks doors in the facility to ensure they are secure. Secures established check points locations. Makes sure that all hallways and stairwells are free of obstructions.  Reports discrepancies in “Activity Log” and to relevant departments.

  • Escorts patients, family members or employees to vehicles upon request.

  • Patrols hospital space for security and safety checks. Patrols parking lots.

  • Patrols facility to ensure that the "No Smoking" policy is enforced.

  • Performs administrative duties such as completing necessary forms, reports, studies, etc. as directed.  

  • Maintains "state of the art" knowledge of the facilities in the security field. Utilizes this knowledge in each phase of job responsibility where new methods and techniques are compatible. Attends departmental meeting for employees providing adequate in-service for successful intra and interdepartmental operations.  Assists, as needed, planning sessions with staff to assess issues, seek input, contribute ideas, and direct the group toward goal development and implementation.  Assists in training other staff members within department.      

  • Maintains effective working relationships with professional, maintenance, and administrative personnel.  Communicates with hospital administration, the medical staff, department managers, as well as other hospital employees and individuals not employed by the hospital in order to stay current with patient and organizational issues.      

  • Accepts multiple interruptions and maintains composure while being flexible and adaptable to changing conditions. Projects and maintains positive working relationships by consistently displaying a caring and professional demeanor with his/her staff, co-workers, and public.

  • Cultivates team spirit and departmental pride by providing an atmosphere of open communication.  Represents the hospital on a professional basis.      

  • Adheres to and promotes the hospitals mission statement, philosophy, goals and objectives 

  • Renders opinions based on professional knowledge and experience as appropriate. Encourages and promotes customer service and satisfaction.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

  • Two years previous experience in a related field

  • CLEET I, II, and IV certification preferred

  • Valid Georgia Driver’s License
