The Radiation Therapist is responsible for delivering high-quality radiation therapy treatments to patients as prescribed by a physician, in compliance with established clinical standards, safety protocols, and regulatory guidelines. The therapist operates a variety of specialized equipment to perform advanced procedures, including Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT), Stereotactic Radiation Surgery (SRS), Stereotactic Body Radiation Therapy (SBRT), Total Body Irradiation (TBI), Total Body Electron Therapy (TBE), High Dose Rate (HDR) Brachytherapy, and CT-based simulation planning.

In addition to administering treatments, the Radiation Therapist ensures accurate patient positioning, verifies treatment plans, monitors patients for side effects, and maintains detailed treatment records. The role also involves providing clinical instruction, mentorship, and supervision to students undergoing training in radiation therapy techniques, fostering a learning environment that emphasizes patient safety and quality care.

 As a successful candidate, you will: 

  • Deliver a prescribed and planned course of radiation therapy to patients of all ages.
  • Reinforce recommendations given to patient by healthcare professional concerning reaction to treatment and care of radiated area, prevention, or treatment of generalized and local side effects
  • Perform simulation procedures as prescribed by physician and assist in dosimetry procedures
  • Perform daily quality assurance checks on linear accelerators, reporting any variation in morning warm-up. Reports improper equipment operation to appropriate personnel

Qualifications

Your qualifications should include:

  • High School or equivalent; Post High School Vocational/Specialized Training in an accredited Radiation Therapy Education Program
  • 0-3 of related experience, depending on training
  • Licensed by the California State Department of Health (Certified in Radiation Therapy)
  • Certification by the ARRT – in Radiation Therapy CRT
  • BLS or CPR
  • Hourly Pay rate: $70.0448 / hr
