The Assistant Director, Employee Giving & Engagement, reports directly to the Sr. Director, National Employee Giving Programs. The Assistant Director will help ensure the fundraising success of the Office of Philanthropy through a number of responsibilities.

Specifically, the Assistant Director, under the direction of the Sr. Director, National Employee Giving Programs, will help manage City of Hope’s best-in-class employee giving program, Hope Starts with Us. They will serve as a liaison to City of Hope employees who wish to make a difference with their own philanthropy to City of Hope. The role is also responsible for helping to ensure continuity of the program vis-à-vis other Annual Giving campaigns and platforms, timely and accurate campaign effort and results reporting, and recommending implementing strategic changes that enhance the impact of Hope Starts with Us.

As a successful candidate, you will:

Assist in managing the Hope Starts with Us Employee Giving Program

Assists in overseeing and executing strategies that increase annual fundraising and maintain effective engagement with City of Hope employee donors, including helping to manage volunteer ambassador program, executing special events and Day of Welcome, and producing communications in alignment with program objectives and goals.

Develop, deliver, and maintain communications with existing and new City of Hope employees that emphasize City of Hope’s rich history of philanthropy, invites employees to participate in meaningful ways, and encourages existing employee donors to increase giving over time.

Partner with Payroll, Human Resources, and Data Management colleagues to ensure accurate and timely delivery of employee status and lists to OOP’s database of record (AccessHope). Partnering with the data team to develop and fine-tune dashboard and other reporting on employee giving activity at City of Hope, including HSWU campaign efforts and results.

Direct-response fundraising and stewardship coordination

Champion HSWU through marketing/communications, events, and direct response campaigns to help generate increased brand awareness and program participation (i.e., Walk for Hope, Giving Tues., Payroll Deduction).

Working with the Sr. Director, National Employee Giving Program, and the direct response agency, help manage the process of creation, review, and launch of emails, direct mail and other forms of communication promoting City of Hope/HSWU and Office of Philanthropy via various platforms.

Coordinate and implement quarterly donor stewardship mailings to acknowledge and express gratitude from City of Hope.

Coordinate content review and approvals of patient stories, copy, art, data and production proofs and set up of printed materials, as well as email, and landing page proofs, if needed. Ensure accurate and timely processing of creative elements, and that all necessary reviews and testing are completed from City of Hope’s brand, communications, and marketing teams.

Manage project teams to develop, execute, and complete assignments on time and within budget.

Handle donor inquiries and resolve issues in a timely manner.

Qualifications

Your qualifications should include: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field. Experience may substitute for minimum education requirements.
  • 1-3 years non-profit or related industry.
