The successful candidate:

The Steward is responsible for cleaning and sanitizing items such as dishes, glasses and utensils and performing tasks that contribute to a sanitary environment for patients, caregivers, and staff while maintaining compliance with the Organization's and Health Department standards. 

  • The Steward, with the support of all Culinary staff, takes pride in being the pillar of kitchen cleanliness and sanitation and ensures café, cooking area and cook line are well stocked with needed items so the network within the department may continue to run smoothly. 

  • Follows all ServSafe Food Safety and Sanitation guidelines. 

  • Complete other daily tasks or positions that may be asked to ensure smooth operation of department.

Minimum Education:

High School Diploma or equivalent, or equivalent work experience preferred  

Minimum Experience:

Minimum 1 year of related experience preferred

License/ Certification/ Permit: 

  • Currently dated Food Handler’s Permit from County/State Health Department in which you reside if required by the state (Required in AZ). ServeSafe preferred.

  • Certification from an American National Standards Institute (ANSI) food handler training accredited program or obtained within 30 days of employment (Required in IL). ServeSafe preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

  • Strong customer services skills

  • Ability to work well on a team

  • Strong attention to detail and organizational and time management skills

  • Ability to be flexible, adapting to changing conditions in a fast-paced environment
