City of Hope Orange County is transforming cancer treatment by bringing world-class expertise and specialized care closer to home. Supported by a regional network of care, our 11-acre academic cancer campus in Irvine is home to City of Hope Orange County Lennar Foundation Cancer Center, our outpatient cancer center, and Orange County’s only cancer specialty hospital, opening in late 2025.
With the opening of the hospital, the full continuum of advanced cancer care—from prevention through survivorship—will be available in Orange County for the first time, eliminating the need to travel for lifesaving treatment. Seamlessly connected to our outpatient cancer center, the new clinical research hospital will feature 73 inpatient beds, advanced surgical suites, groundbreaking clinical trials, and holistic services such as rehabilitative therapy and spiritual care. This isn’t standard cancer care. This is lifesaving cancer care. This is Hope.
The Manager, Retail Food Services is responsible for food quality and customer service in a payment processing retail food operation that includes branded concepts, in-house formats and signature designs to ensure customer satisfaction. Directs the work of hourly and supervisory food service workers, as well as other managers. Ensures there is a zero-harm mindset for customers and our food employees. Develops and delivers department metrics, key performance indicators and safety programs for regulatory compliance in addition to frontline training programs.
As a successful candidate, you will:
- Directs daily operations of food quality and customer service in a payment processing retail food operation that includes branded concepts, in-house formats and signature designs to ensure employees have appropriate equipment, supplies and resources to perform their jobs and meet goals, cost controls and deadlines.
- Manages by providing positive and constructive feedback to employees in order to reward, coach, correct and motivate. Supervises day-to-day work activities by delegating authority, assigning and prioritizing activities and monitoring operating standards.
- Reviews and tracks unit sales of product groups or items to control inventory and for menu and pricing management.
- Coordinates menu development for cycle menus, themed events, and special functions.
- Ensures that employees demonstrate an active customer hospitality orientation toward customers and clients.
- Manages cash handling protocols and control procedures according to City of Hope policies.
- Probes potential problems and apprises manager of status on resolution of problems or issues, using appropriate Sodexo resource when necessary.
- Establishes operating standards, implements quality improvements and communicates them to employees.
- Ensures that high standards of sanitation, cleanliness and safety are maintained throughout all kitchen areas at all times.
- Ensures that regular cleaning and maintenance schedules for all kitchen areas and equipment are adhered to.
- Establishes a safe work environment for employees by providing safety-related training and equipment maintenance and by ensuring compliance with City of Hope safety and loss prevention programs and with standards.
Qualifications
Your qualifications should include:
Minimum Education:
- High school diploma, GED or equivalent
Minimum Experience:
- 2+ years of related work experience plus 1 year of lead or supervisory experience
Req. Certification/Licensure:
- Serv-Safe certification (may acquire after hired, within 90 days)
- Food Handlers Card
Preferred:
- Serve Safe Manager Certification
- Associates degree in Hospitality, Service Manager or Culinary.
