City of Hope Orange County is transforming cancer treatment by bringing world-class expertise and specialized care closer to home. Supported by a regional network of care, our 11-acre academic cancer campus in Irvine is home to City of Hope Orange County Lennar Foundation Cancer Center, our outpatient cancer center, and Orange County’s only cancer specialty hospital, opening in late 2025.

With the opening of the hospital, the full continuum of advanced cancer care—from prevention through survivorship—will be available in Orange County for the first time, eliminating the need to travel for lifesaving treatment. Seamlessly connected to our outpatient cancer center, the new clinical research hospital will feature 73 inpatient beds, advanced surgical suites, groundbreaking clinical trials, and holistic services such as rehabilitative therapy and spiritual care. This isn’t standard cancer care. This is lifesaving cancer care. This is Hope.

Are you a seasoned ICU nurse ready to lead, mentor, and elevate patient care? Join our team as a Clinical Nurse IV, where you will play a pivotal role in overseeing ICU operations, ensuring exceptional patient care, and guiding nursing practice standards during your assigned shift.  

In this Clinical Nurse IV role, you will: 

Lead and support the ICU team – direct nursing staff, manage patient assignments, and ensure smooth unit operations in a fast-paced critical care environment. Provides direct expert care – Maintain advanced clinical nursing skills while assisting with complex patient cases. You will coordinate patient care by directing staff and functions on the unit, while maintaining clinical nursing practice skills. Ensure continuity and congruity of services through coordination of the department, supervision, and direction of staff, and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams, your expertise will directly impact patient outcomes. Serves as a role model and clinical resource to colleagues, staff, and patients.

We are looking for passionate, skilled ICU nurses who can think critically, act decisively, and provide compassionate leadership for both patients and staff.  Your ability to communicate effectively, document thoroughly, and integrate cultural, psychosocial, and spiritual needs into care plans will be essential to this role.

  • Coordinate & Elevate Patient Care by overseeing the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based care, ensuring patient safety and optimal outcomes.
  • Ability to delegate and empower staff and build strong employee morale.
  • Mentor and provide constructive feedback.
  • Proven ability to work independently and follow through with minimal direction.
  • Offer emotional support and a compassionate presence to patients, fostering trust and confidence.
  • Understanding of Joint Commission and other applicable regulatory requirements
  • Sign-on Bonus: $20,000

Qualifications

Your qualifications should include:

  • Bachelor’s degree or master’s degree in nursing is required.
  • Current California Registered Nurse license.
  • Minimum of three (3) years related experience
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR Card through American Heart Association
  • Current National certification must be maintained to retain CN IV status. City of Hope (Nursing Excellence Department and HR) approve certifications which are a subset of ANCC Magnet-recognized certifications as updated in ANCC Demographic Data Collection Tool. (DDCT)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a caring and empathetic demeanor.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced clinical setting.
