We’re bringing access to our scientific expertise and highly specialized cancer care closer to home by building OC’s only specialty cancer hospital at our comprehensive cancer campus in Irvine, California. Once open in late 2025, it will deepen our treatment capabilities and seamlessly connect to City of Hope Orange County Lennar Foundation Cancer, our NCI-designated – and OC’s most advanced – cancer center. The new hospital is the capstone of our 11-acre City of Hope Orange County campus. Where other hospitals must serve the full spectrum of health conditions in our community, every team member at this specialty cancer hospital—from the nurses to nutritionists to physicians – will focus solely on oncology.
The Department of Surgery, Division of Thoracic Surgery, is seeking a board certified or eligible Thoracic Surgeon with training in advanced oncologic thoracic surgery to meet the needs of our growing program in Southern California. This individual is expected to support our clinical and research programs in Thoracic Oncology with an 80% clinical /20% academic obligation. Scholarly contributions to further the academic mission of the division will be expected such as translational and/or outcomes research, and participation in clinical trials. The Thoracic Surgeon can look forward to providing patient-centered care in collaboration with a world class, nationally recognized multidisciplinary team of Thoracic providers. This is a full-time position reporting to the Division Chief of Thoracic Surgery.
· Clinical site in Irvine, CA
· 80% Clinical and 20% academic obligations; The position entails 4 days of clinical work (clinic and OR) and 1 protected day for scholarly achievements.
· Established and expanding referral base in Thoracic Surgery in the region

· Provide patient-centered care in collaboration an established multidisciplinary team of physicians and nurses at a state-of-the-art outpatient clinic facility.
· Contribute to the development of clinical trials and research studies
· Pursue academic appointments and participate in educational activities
Position Benefits:

· Base Salary Range: $350,000 - $450,000. The range listed is exclusively for base compensation for full-time employment and does not include incentive compensation or benefits. Actual compensation will be adjusted for experience, training, hospital/community need and other factors.

Qualifications
· BC/BE in cardiothoracic surgery
· Evidence of past scholarly contributions and academic growth trajectory
· Academic record consistent with appointment at Assistant or Associate or Professor level at City of Hope National Medical Center
· Training and skills in minimally invasive thoracic surgical techniques including thoracoscopic and robotic surgery
· Selected candidate for the position must be eligible to obtain or already hold an active California medical license
· Applicants must have a M.D., M.D./Ph.D., or equivalent degree
