The successful candidate:

The Hospital Patient Transporter plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth and efficient movement of patients within the hospital setting. This position is responsible for the safe and timely transportation of patients to various departments for tests, procedures, admissions, and discharges. The ideal candidate possesses excellent communication skills, a dedication to patient comfort, and a strong understanding of hospital safety protocols.

JOB RESPONSIBLITIES

  • Transport patients to and from different hospital areas using wheelchairs, stretchers, or beds.

  • Assist patients in and out of transport equipment, offering support and ensuring safety.

  • Maintains a solid understanding of proper body mechanics

  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and hospital staff, providing updates and answering questions as needed.

  • Provides proper introduction, verifies patient identity using two patient identifiers, and informs the patient of their destination.

  • Maintain the cleanliness and organization of transport equipment.

  • Follow all hospital policies and procedures, with a particular focus on patient safety and infection control measures.

  • Assist with basic patient care tasks as instructed

  • Maintains accurate documentation and completes accurate handoff.

  • Maintain a calm and compassionate demeanor, providing reassurance and comfort to patients and their families.

  • Complies with established PPE guidelines proper handling of patient

  • Immediately reports any equipment malfunction and removes the items from service. 

  • When necessary, supports the delivery and pickup of labs, blood products, medical supplies, etc to the correct department within the hospital

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Education: High School Diploma or GED

Certification:

Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
